Bash the Trash (BTT) brings a musical message of science and sustainability with weird and wonderful instruments created from trash. Grammy-nominated BTT is the brainchild of long-time Hastings residents John Bertles and Carina Piaggio. This year we present “BTT Undrummed”, a dubious selection of tunes from the Bash the Trash Songbook, played super-informally bluegrass-style by an all-Hastings crew on our tiny front porch.

Oh No! Brass Band is made up by three individuals; a person with a PhD in art history, a middle school music teacher/music producer, and an elementary school teacher. Who is who you may ask? You will have to take a wild guess! It’s Miki Tomaru on Sousaphone, Keith Doherty on Mandolin and other strings, and Kevin Farrell on drums. Come see them play to see the fun side of these very serious folks!

Slingshots plays a groovy collection of covers that span the likes of funk, soul, latin and jazz. Listen closely, you might hear a popular song with a slightly different vibe or feel.
Slingshots began as outdoor rehearsals during the pandemic in 2020. Dave, Chris, Steve and Jeremy began as an instrumental group but wanted to access more great tunes. Since then they have added Rebecca Hirschberg as a vocalist to the cast.
