Bachtopus is an accordion ensemble from New York City that performs music by contemporary composers and Johann Sebastian Bach. The group has become one of the few accordion ensembles in the United States that focuses on new music. Having established a large repertoire in just a few years, Bachtopus seeks to play more original compositions, commissioned works, and contemporary music that is interesting, accessible, and grounded in traditional folk music.

Pianist Dan Cray, a finalist for both the 2004 APA Jazz Fellowship and the 2003 Montreux Jazz Festival Solo Piano Competition, has performed around the world in many diverse and creative settings with a variety of vocalists and instrumentalists including Billy Drummond, Noah Preminger, Dayna Stephens, and Mark Ferber. He’s released 6 albums, and had music featured on film and the TV show “Gossip Girl.”

Dead End Beverly

Ecclectic blend folk, jazz standards, traditional, originals

Dead End Beverly is the unique musical duo of Angela Devine and Daniel Rayner. They perform both original compositions as well as covers in a variety of musical styles that include folk, blues, American jazz standards and traditional music. Together, they have been performing for audiences throughout the Hudson Valley since 2015 and have been featured artists on NY Talent Radio, WVKR and the WPWL radio program Local Heroes.

Jon Hatch is a New York musician, songwriter, performer and composer currently focusing on electronic music featuring modular synthesis. Jon’s music ranges from ambient drones to more aggressive fuzzed out and mangled bass lines. Always keeping an eye on melody and composition, Jon uses a modular synthesizer to write and perform his music.

Recipient of the Arts Alive grant and participant of the New York Foundation of the Arts fiscally sponsored program, Kaya continues her legacy of storytelling through her debut original project: “Magnolias,” going into production in 2023.

Evan Pittson presents a modern direction for the viola.

The Porch Brothers sing and play acoustic guitars and mandolin. Their songs are mostly American and mostly vintage, with generous handfuls of originals, contemporary gems and complete surprises. Richard Brooker’s deft touch on guitar and mandolin comes from decades of playing in American, Celtic and gypsy jazz traditions. Tom Heany is a Hudson Valley songwriter; his instruction manual is the great American song book and his newspaper is traditional American music. They sing like fine old cars.

The interplay of the saxophone and the guitar are at the forefront while the structure of the writing, which stays in the jazz idiom, provides a springboard for improvisational sparks to fly. Charlie’s compositions are derived from an internal spark from the connection between his heart and ears, influenced by his life as a teacher, father, and musician.

Yvonne Sotomayor is a bilingual poet who has toured 27 States and Canada, played the Iowa and Kentucky State Fairs, the Jimmy Carter Presidential Library and The New York City Marathon. Recordings from her first EP, Radical Chica, have aired the world over and her poetry videos have appealed to viewers across genres and generations. She has also produced a Neil deGrasse Tyson special for CUNY TV, appeared in NYPD Blue, and worked with Whoopi Goldberg, Gérard Depardieu, Bill Murray and Alec Baldwin.

Us! happened when Judy Kass, Glen Roethel and Amy Soucy came together to write songs encouraging positive change, unity, and dialogue. The trio spices their message-driven compositions with luscious harmonies, robust melodies, and unexpected twists and turns. The Us! co-write, “Too Much Crying” garnered a Gold Award in the Open Category of the 36th Mid-Atlantic Song Contest. Currently, Us! is in the studio working on their first album with an anticipated release in 2023.
